The Naked Guy.

without comments

Ok. This may be R(21), but still interesting.

I watching tv when I came across this topic. The Naked Guy.

Anyway he has a name, Andrew Martinez. But I guess he is best known as The Naked Guy. I thought I wanted to put a picture of him on my blog, but it is R(21). So maybe you all can click the link to see, he has a good figure. Lolx.

He was a high school football player. He is tall. He studied in University of California, Berkeley. If I am not wrong, he is in Business School.

Back to how he got the name: The Naked Guy. He started appearing naked in the publicin 1992. The college couldnt do anything to him as it wasnt illgeal then to appear the naked. UC, Berkeley didnt have any dress code in the past. Andrew Martinez attended classes with only a backpack and sandals.

Some of the students in school even join in the nudity thingy. The students would also have ‘naked performances’ in school.

[You can see more pictures of him in school here.] And most of them are naked. *blushes*

He said that: when he dressed in expensive, uncomfortable, stylish, “appropriate” attire, he hid the fact that his personal belief was that clothes were useless in his environment except as a tool for class and gender differentiation.

3 months later, UC Berkeley asked him to leave as they finally issued  its “Policy Statement Concerning Public Nudity and Sexually Offensive Conduct”.

He still lived in Berkeley and went around naked. He was 1st arrested for public nudity, but won the charges. Yea! For a long time, walking around naked in public is legal. He also become a celebrity, being ask on talkshows and so on….

Martinez was asked to leave Berkeley when he attended a City Council meeting naked. And no more public nudity.

He went to Europe after that and started to write a book on his experiences. Before he could finish, mental illness caught up with him. He went back toBerkeley.

Doctors couldnt gave him any diagnosis. And he struggled for years with schizophrenia medication. After he was diagnosed with mental illness, he move around in drug rehab centres, mental institutions and prison for ten years.

He was arrested in January 10, 2006 after a fight at one of the drug rehab centres. He was charged with battery and assualt with a deadly weapon. He was placed in Santa Clara County Jail in max-security custody.

On May 18 2006, he was pronounced dead of suicide at Valley medical centre at the age of 33. He was found unconscious under his bedcovers with a plastic bag cinched around his head.

He had signs of suicide but no one help him.

The last time Andrew’s mother saw her son was three weeks before his death when she visited him in jail. “He was sad. He was tired. He said he had had enough”, she said. “I alerted everyone, but nothing happened”.

Friends and family of the 33-year-old remembered Andrew as a man who struggled for years with mental illness. “He was a person with tremendous gifts and charisma who could have been a great asset to our society, but instead I feel like society—me included—failed him”, said Martinez’s best friend, Bryan Schwartz, a civil rights lawyer in Washington, D.C. “It’s such a waste”.

It is a pity that Martinez died so young. His life was short, interesting and sad. He dare to fight for his rights. He is a person who has his own beliefs and thoughts. Even when he was struggling with his mental illness, he mantained his charisma and generous spirit. What a great guy!!

He is a legend. Although his end is sad.
